Gobmi produces high quality urban wear inspired by the Scandinavian indigenous Sámi people. Our clothing is ethically sourced and produced, focusing on sustainability and quality.

Since launching in 2022, Gobmi has garnered international attention with its award winning Bearaš collection. Gobmi won the highly renowned DOGA Award for Design and Architecture in 2023, and the collection has been featured in a number of fashion publications, including Vogue.

 

Live and Hannas brother wore a specially made Gobmi outfit made out of reindeer leather in the MGP finals 2022 with his band NorthKid, where they got second place.

  • Our story

    The sisters Live and Hanna from Áltá discovered their Sami heritage when a family member got old and sick and suddenly spoke Sami. Growing up in the middle of Sápmi close to Sami culture, it all suddenly made sense. 

    ‍This day was the beginning of a journey where the sisters take back their culture and identity that almost got lost in generations before them. Gobmi is part of this journey. Their mission is to create a collective universe where diversity, sustainability and positivity are the central values.

  • The Gobmi Journey

    For years, the sisters Live and Hanna had the idea of a clothing brand that embraced their Sami cultural heritage in a new and urban way. They launched Gobmi in 2021 and garnered national recognition, grants and a nomination for a national honorary reward, even before their first collection dropped.

    Gobmi was launched in 2021 with a sneak peak of their first collection and the brand got a lot of attention on social media and national media. Norway's top online destination for fashion news, Melk & Honning, wrote an article about Gobmi saying that the brand put Sámi fashion in the spotlight. In August the same year Gobmi was nominated for Fushion Tribute Award, a national honorary award for innovation and sustainability in fashion. Gobmi was nominated along with well established Norwegian fashion brands like Livid, FWSS and Michael Olestad. 

    Gobmi was also one of 11 startups selected for the startup accelerator Arctic Accelerator 2021. During the accelerator program Gobmi was named top 3 most promising startups by an investor program. Later the same year Live and Hanna raised 2 MNOK through investments and grants from Innovation Norway and Sparebank1 Nord-Norge.

    The first collection “Bearaš” [family] dropped in the fall of 2022.
